Dear Mr Ruggles,

It is now two and a half years since I first had the good fortune to make your acquaintance. At the end of 2005 I was having a new kitchen fitted by a contractor who did not do flooring or decorating. At the beginning of December the units had been fitted, a new gas boiler installed and the debris lay outside and inside the house. Flooring and decorating was yet to be done and we were expecting guests for Christmas.

I met you purely by chance at my daughter’s house and you came immediately to give me a quote for the work. I never dreamed I would have a completed kitchen by Christmas but on the 20th December everything was completed to the very last detail including the removal of, not only your own debris but that of the previous contractors as well.

The contrast between your foreign workers and the British workers who had left only days before yours arrived was pleasantly amazing. All materials were delivered on the day they were promised and the workmen turned up at 8 a.m. sharp on each day that they said they would be here; their day did not start with ‘put the kettle on’, instead they got down to work immediately and refused a cup of tea or any form of sustenance.

Since then you have done two other major contracts for me. I consider it a personal achievement that finally your workmen have accepted a cup of coffee whilst on the job. They were all charming, respectful and very considerate of my invalid wife who was at all times present in the house whilst they were working.

I am very pleased with all of the contracts you have completed for me and if the opportunity arises I will be only too pleased to boast that I know the best builder in the area and recommend you whenever I can.

It is with great pleasure that I recommend Bruce Ruggles. He has recently designed, project managed and been responsible for the installation of our en-suite bathroom which was completed to a very high standard.
